MailOfficially for Windows

MailOfficially for Windows puts your MailOfficially email in its own app on your Windows PC. Your mailboxes, folders and All inboxes on the left, your emails in the middle and the email you are reading on the right, with a notification when new mail arrives and the unread count by the clock.

Before you start

"Windows protected your PC"

If Windows shows a blue box that says "Windows protected your PC" when you open the installer, click More info, then Run anyway.

Install

  1. Download the installer, MailOfficially-1.0.1.exe, and double-click it.
  2. If Windows says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. That's it. It installs for your Windows account only and adds MailOfficially to the Start menu. It also shows in Windows Settings > Apps.

  1. Type your full email address and your password, then click Sign in.
  2. If your account has 2-step verification, type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. You can also use one of your recovery codes.
  3. Your mail appears. Next time the app opens straight away, already signed in.

Forgot your password? Click Forgot password? on the sign-in window, the same as on mailofficially.com.

Passkeys: this app can't sign in with a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint) yet. If your account uses only passkeys, add an authenticator app first in MailOfficially on the web under Settings > Security, or use a recovery code.

Your password is never stored. Your sign-in is kept on this PC, protected by Windows for your Windows account only.

The window

On the left

Your mailboxes and folders with their unread counts: All inboxes if your account has it, Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Archive, Spam, Trash and your own folders, plus every mailbox shared with you and its folders.

In the middle

The emails in that folder: who sent it, the subject, the first words and the date. Unread emails are bold with a dot. A flag and a paperclip show flagged emails and attachments. Search is at the top.

On the right

The email you are reading, with Reply, Reply all, Forward and the other buttons above it.

The app keeps a copy of your folders and recent emails on this PC, protected by Windows, so it opens at once and shows your mail even when you are offline. Press F5 to check for new mail now.

Updating

There are no automatic updates yet. To update, download the latest installer from docs.mailofficially.com/mailofficially-windows and run it. It replaces the installed version and keeps your sign-in.

Removing it

This signs this PC out and removes the app, the Start menu entry, starting with Windows and the copy of your mail kept on this PC. Your email stays in your account: everything is still on mailofficially.com and in the phone apps.
